Anti-Money Laundering: Manage customer information

Money laundering challenge

With the increasing automation of financial transactions and integration of systems, Money laundering has become a global issue. Criminal networks leverage financial institutions to conceal profits from criminal activity, such as drug trafficking or terrorist funding, and make it look as coming from a legitimate source.

Goal

Our client, a large institutional bank, required DataSpartan to create an anti-money laundering and know-your-customer system to manage customer information and predict customer credit risk. This system would be responsible for helping the bank to regularly interface with the Central Bank and regulators.

Our Approach

DataSpartan created a focused development team inside the client. In collaboration with the technology leads and product owners, the team developed a platform integrated with the technologies in use at the client.

Our Results

An end-to-end system was created using J2EE, DB2, Oracle, and Biztalk. DataSpartan delivered the work following agile methodologies, completing the project in several sprints over a 6-month period. In addition to the backend features, an extensible internal dashboard was created to provide a global overview of customer credit risk to management. The system is currently in use and the client is using it to generate customer credit reports for Central Bank compliance. Multiple manual processes were automated through this system.
